ARTIST'S BIO
Born in Ottawa, Michael J Kolesar began his career in the early 70's as an illustrator and designer with the National Museums of Canada. In 1975, he started his own design firm in Ottawa, providing graphic and exhibit design to government and corporate clients in Canada. At the same time, he was creating commissioned fine art for patrons in Canada and abroad. Michael has held private exhibitions in Ottawa at the National Art Centre.
These days, after a career of 45 years in the design industry, Michael is working full time in his studio, as an artist. His work includes portraits, figurative drawings, nature and landscape drawings and paintings, and abstracts.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT
Michael creates images and works of art that express a narrative. Landscapes, figurative and portrait drawings, nature and abstract drawings and paintings. Michael enjoys working with patrons to create works that are unique to them, whether heirloom portraits, or themed artwork for home or office. He welcomes their participation in the selection and development of the piece being created for them and they are welcome to visit the studio throughout the process to view the work in progress. Michael is currently working on portraits and a series of figurative drawings called the Blue Rose.
