Collage Jacqueline Claire Matheson is an artist and volunteer born and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Claire explores a variety of artistic forms; her primary focus lies in painting (acrylic on canvas), line drawings (ink), and collage - combining small canvases for large impact. Claire is a student at the Toronto School of Art, where she studies painting, drawing and collage. Claire has had her paintings featured in community art shows, including the Artists’ Network Gallery Streetcar Art Exhibition and has sold numerous commissions for portraits of dogs, cats, birds, horses and the occasional rabbit. Most recently, Claire's artwork has been featured in a collection of totes with Guava Pussy Zine, and the SNAP Community art show at Montgomery Inn Claire is supported by the wonderful people at Mimico SNAP where in addition to visual arts, she plays piano for seniors and after-school groups, and volunteers regularly throughout the community. As a member of the disability community, Claire speaks with her art. She uses books, drawings, painting, to bring joy, connect with friends and family, and to exercise a measure of direction and control in a world where she is most often directed, brought, sent, told. In art she directs, brings, tells and creates.
