A full time artist, Layal grew up in the Mediterranean, in a family of artists. She began experimenting with different drawing techniques and later studied art and painting at a local college, under the mentorship of several accomplished painters. In 2000 she decided to incorporate computer graphics into her techniques and took a one year course at The International Academy of Design in Toronto and graduated with honours. Layal works have been shown in a number of art exhibits in Canada and Europe throughout her career.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings have a whimsical touch in an imaginary world. Although my favourite subjects are always architectural, I try to infuse different elements and patterns in my paintings from jewellery, fashion and calligraphy bringing an artistic expression into a cohesive and imaginative whole.
My art has a sense of architectural wonder and fantasy, it is an exploration of imagination. I like to weave together different artistic influences and concepts while maintaining a consistent touch of whimsical feel.
