ARTIST STATEMENT
Hi, nice to connect with you. I'm Paul Simon, a photographer raised in both Hamilton and Killarney. I see so many interesting things out there in life... I like capturing them in my viewfinder and presenting them in engaging ways.
I believe our destiny and the environment are intertwined, that nature plays a huge role in shaping who we are. But so does industry, and so does culture. I like to ponder and explore both: the peace of the forest and the water... the bustle of the city and the people.
I do take cues from the great Renaissance painters in their stylistic “playing with light”. As well, I enjoy the more modern technique of panoramics: stitching together exact shots into super-wide photographic vistas. It’s meticulous work... yet it’s miraculous child’s play.
I appreciate you taking a look at my images... I hope a few stay with you for good.
