ARTIST STATEMENT
As a gardener and artist, I draw deeply from the matriarchs in my family, women who tended soil and cultivated beauty long before me. Their influence shapes my fascination with flowers—their colours, forms, and quiet resilience. During a period of stillness, I began painting single blooms in intimate, close-up portraits that explore isolation, beauty, and time. Observing my garden with renewed clarity revealed the rhythm of nature’s cycles and has offered calm amid times of uncertainty. These works balance realism and abstraction, reflecting both the physicality of each flower and the emotional space they create, inviting contemplation of what surrounds us.
